Child Protective Services and Community Interpreting: Navigating the CPC

The Child Protective Services (CPS) process does not travel a linear path. From the moment a referral is made, to closing a case, this process can take many twists and turns. There are also power dynamics and the marginalization of dDeaf and hard of hearing children/adults involved in the CPS system. By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to assess your own skills to determine if you will be able to render the message faithfully. Professional knowledge and experience will be supplemented with the presenter’s personal experience as a foster and an adoptive parent. This webinar was designed for interpreters working in non-educational settings.
