Building Connections Through Child-Centered Interpreting
This webinar addresses a critical gap in interpreter education by focusing on effective communication with children in community settings, going beyond traditional educational environments. Participants will enhance their interpreting skills by understanding the developmental differences between children and adults. They will learn to identify important factors to consider before accepting jobs involving children and develop practical strategies tailored to working with young clients. Addressing this gap will foster positive connections with the younger members of the deaf community. During this webinar, small group sessions will be utilized to discuss these and other issues. Professional knowledge and experience will be supplemented with the presenters’ personal experiences as a foster and an adoptive parents.
