Trauma-Informed Interpreting with Children

Trauma doesn’t just impact adults but also the most vulnerable population: children. This impact can even begin while a child is in utero and continue into adulthood. Understanding how trauma impacts the brain is essential; trauma not only affects your behaviors, but how you receive and express language. This webinar will delve into the science behind trauma, how to work with children who have experienced trauma, and how to recognize the ethical space interpreters occupy and make adjustments depending on the context. Professional knowledge and experience will be supplemented with the presenters’ personal experiences as foster and adoptive parents.

This webinar is beneficial for all members of a dDeaf child’s educational team.
